Top five shows to see this November

Following on from the success of last month’s top five, we are continuing to recommend in advance our top shows to see in Sheffield in November, in date order, alongside our regular reviews throughout the month:

The Elvis Dead + Evil Dead 2 – 1 November 2018, Leadmill

We missed out on seeing this at the Edinburgh Fringe this year so we are delighted it’s coming to Sheffield. What better way to end Halloween week than with one of the funniest and best horror films of all time with an Elvis tribute. Tickets are only £12.50. For further information and to book visit www.leadmill.co.uk/event/the-elvis-dead-evil-dead-2. To read our interview with Elvis Dead (aka Rob Kemp) click here.

Adam Hills Book Tour: Best Foot Forward – 4 November 2018, Leadmill

Our favourite international comedian, and provider of this year’s summer reading for us, will be reading chapters from that very book, his biography Best Foot Forward, at our favourite venue for comedy in Sheffield. The evening will combine stand-ups, anecdotes and the opportunity to buy our favourite biography of the year. Tickets are only £15. For further information and to book visit www.leadmill.co.uk/event/adam-hills-book-tour.

Closer – 8 to 10 November, Montgomery Theatre

If you loved Patrick Marber’s cult 2004 film starring Natalie Portman, Jude Law, Clive Owen and Julie Roberts then you will love this adaptation of his powerful and darkly funny stage play, by Sheffield theatre company Day One Theatre, exploring the  lives of four people trading partners for lust. Tickets are £12 full price and £10 for concessions. For further information and to book visit http://themontgomery.org.uk.

Gypsy – 13 to 17 November 2018. Lyceum Theatre

Brought to the stage by STOS Theatre Company, this is a rare opportunity to see this classic musical and also to see a West End quality musical at non-West End prices in Sheffield. We are planning to leave the theatre with “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” firmly stuck in our heads. For further information and to book visit www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk/whats-on/gypsy.

Made in Dagenham – 21 to 24 November 2018, Sheffield University Drama Studio

What better way to mark the 50th anniversary of the Ford Dagenham equal pay for women walk-out than with this production of the musical celebrating the sewing machinists story by the company SUPAS, who won our award for best musical (student company) last year. For further information and to book visit www.ticketsource.co.uk/supas.
